Terms of Service
Last updated: 2026-03-15
These terms govern your use of the basal.is cloud service (authentication, LLM proxy, and Google Workspace integrations). The BASAL CLI and local runtime are provided under a separate license.
Operator
The basal.is cloud service is operated by Agora Innovation Limited, a private company incorporated in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), registered number 12487.
Registered address: DIFC Innovation One, Dubai International Financial Centre, United Arab Emirates.
Service scope
basal.is provides the following services:
- Authentication — Google OAuth sign-in and API key management
- LLM proxy — Authenticated forwarding of AI requests to state-of-the-art inference providers, routed by capability tier (reasoning, embedding, fast inference). Providers include OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and others
- Executive Assistant (EA) provisioning — Automated setup of Google Workspace integrations for your local BASAL instance
basal.is does not host, process, or store your workspace data, knowledge graph, or documents. Those are processed and stored entirely on your local machine.
Beta / preview status
BASAL v1 is a beta preview. The service is provided as-is with no service level agreement (SLA). We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features with reasonable notice. Availability targets are best-effort during the beta period.
Account and authentication
- Sign-in requires a Google account
- Access during the beta period may require an invite code
- One account per Google identity; accounts are not transferable
- We reserve the right to suspend accounts that violate these terms
Google Workspace integrations
When you enable Executive Assistant (EA) mode, BASAL requests access to your Google Workspace data (Gmail, Drive, Calendar, Sheets, Contacts, and optionally Admin directory). By enabling these integrations, you:
- Authorize BASAL to access the specific Google APIs for each integration you enable
- Acknowledge that this data is processed locally on your device by BASAL's runtime
- Understand that Google Workspace data does not pass through or persist on basal.is servers
- Can revoke access at any time via Google Account permissions
Your use of Google Workspace integrations is also subject to Google's Terms of Service. BASAL's access to Google API data complies with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
API key usage
- API keys are personal and must not be shared or published
- Each key is subject to rate limits (requests per minute and tokens per day)
- Keys can be revoked at any time via the BASAL desktop app or CLI
- Maximum 10 active keys per account
- Abuse or excessive usage may result in key suspension
Your data
- You retain all rights to your local data (documents, graph, workspace files)
- basal.is does not claim any rights to content processed through the LLM proxy
- LLM prompts and responses are forwarded to the inference provider and are subject to their terms
- Google Workspace data imported via EA mode remains your data, stored locally on your device
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Share or publish your API key
- Use the proxy to circumvent inference provider rate limits or terms
- Attempt to access other users' data or API keys
- Use the service for any unlawful purpose
- Reverse-engineer, scrape, or systematically extract data from the basal.is service
- Use BASAL to send spam or unsolicited messages via connected Google accounts
Limitation of liability
BASAL is provided as-is during the beta period. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including but not limited to data loss, service interruptions, inference provider outages, or issues arising from Google Workspace integrations.
Changes to terms
We may update these terms as the service evolves. Material changes will be communicated via the email associated with your account at least 14 days before they take effect.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC). Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the DIFC courts.
